Augusta is one of my favorite places in Maine and is a location that should be sought out for all individuals looking to live in the state. Augusta is a fine town, but lacks places to go to hang out with friends, or have a fun time. The only thing to really do is to go to other towns, or hang out at restaurants.

Augusta is notable for the National Historic Landmark named Fort Western, a former British colonial outpost on the Kennebec River that today is the oldest wooden fort in the United States. Most people don't realize that before Augusta took the title, Portland served for a short time as the capital of Maine.
