Jay, Vermont is a small, scenic ski and golf town (thanks to Jay Peak Resort) located at the very top of Vermont in Orleans county and borders Quebec, Canada to the north.

The resort is just 4 miles (6.5 km) south of the Canada–United States border, above which is the Province of Quebec. The resort opened for skiing in 1957, and it now includes year-round activities.

Why does Jay Peak get so much Snow?

“The way the mountain is oriented along a northeast-southwest line places it perfectly perpendicular to the northwest winds that we get a lot in winter,” he explains. Jay Vermont Those winds hit the mountain, rise, clouds form, “and in winter, you get snow to fall, and the snowfall adds up pretty quickly.”

Jay Peak Mountain is excellent for beginners. An extensive Beginner Zone of 11 trails and introductory glades faces slopeside restaurants and hotels. It's connected by two Moving Carpets and three chair lifts.

Can you see Canada from Jay Peak?

You can see Canada, New York and Vermont from the top of the mountain. The tram is the only one on the East Coast. (or at least it used to be!) vertical drop is about 1,800 feet.
